The open estimate is the URL

Every estimate has its own address, so pasting a link opens that exact estimate for whoever you send it to.

What it is

The Estimates screen keeps the selected job in the URL hash (#/estimates/1078176). The id is the same SmartBuild job id the pipeline's jump buttons already use, so every older ?job= link keeps working and the new ones are just shorter.

Also called: share a link to an estimate · deep link · send someone the quote screen

How it works
  1. 1Selecting an estimate writes its id into the URL hash.
  2. 2Opening a pasted link reads the hash and loads that estimate.
  3. 3Precedence is deliberate: the hash tail beats the older ?job= query, which beats 'wherever you were last' in localStorage.
Why we built it

A rep texting an estimate link to a colleague would watch it open the wrong job — whatever estimate that browser happened to have open last quietly won over the address in the link. Every estimate now has its own address and the link wins outright, so pasting one into a text, an email or a ticket opens that exact estimate for whoever receives it.

The problem
  • A shared estimate link opening the recipient's last-viewed job instead

What you get
Paste a link in a text and the other person lands on the same estimate

Twenty minutes, your numbers, no slide deck. We’ll build one of your real buildings in front of you and send you the estimate link at the end — yours to keep either way.
