Reaching a lead on the phone moves their card

An outbound call that actually connects moves the lead to Contacted — a busy signal or no-answer leaves it where it was.

What it is

When a browser-placed call to a lead completes with real talk time, the lead's sales stage advances to Contacted with the reason and duration recorded. Dialling alone does nothing.

A pipeline card sliding from New Lead to Contacted with a timeline entry 'Outbound call answered (2:14)'. Pipeline board + LeadTimelineBody. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1Fires only on status completed with duration greater than zero
  2. 2The lead is resolved by phone number within the org
  3. 3advanceSalesStage only ever moves forward, so ringing a customer already at Contract Sent does nothing
  4. 4Gated on the org actually having the in-house phone module
Why we built it

Moving a lead to Contacted was a button somebody pressed, which made it a claim rather than a record — and the pipeline slowly filled with leads marked contacted that nobody had actually spoken to. An outbound call that genuinely connects now moves the card by itself. A busy signal, a no-answer or a wrong number leaves the lead exactly where it was, which is the honest reading of the word.

The problem
  • Self-reported contact status
  • Manual stage upkeep after calls
  • Stages advanced by a dial that never connected

What you get
The pipeline reflects real conversations
No admin step after a call
Cannot be gamed by dialling
