The weekly audit email

The report arrives as a branded email that leads with what the system already did this week, and only then with what still needs a person.

What it is

A rendered HTML email containing the verdict line, the authority and traffic summary, the signals that moved, a ten-row benchmark table with coloured deltas, a 'what I did this week, unprompted' block read off the action ledger with the week's spend, and the outstanding proposals with a link to the sign-off queue. When autonomy is off, the same block says so and frames everything below as waiting on a decision.

The email itself: verdict headline, stage line, 'What I did this week, unprompted' block with spend, then the benchmark table. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1recentActions(7) is read from the ledger and counted by kind — posts written, heroes generated, posts published, slots reprioritised, corrections applied.
  2. 2Failed actions are listed separately in red with their summaries.
  3. 3Spend for the week is summed from the same ledger rows.
  4. 4The benchmark table renders baseline, now, seven-day delta and distance to top 10 for the first ten keywords.
  5. 5The send is best-effort inside a try/catch — a mail failure never rolls back the stored report, and emailed_at is only stamped on success.
Why we built it

The ordering has its own comment: "WHAT IT DID, before what it proposes. The report used to open a request for your time. When autonomy is on, most of the week already happened — so the email leads with the work and keeps only the genuinely-human decisions as a request (Keith 08-24)." An email that opens by asking for work gets filed; one that opens with completed work gets read.

The problem
  • The report opened with a task list rather than with completed work.
  • There was no record in the inbox of what the automation had done.

What you get
Opens with the work already done and its cost
Only genuinely human decisions are presented as requests
Failed actions are visible rather than buried
